One of the must do things in Vang Vieng
is see the Blue Lagoon. We didn't really know what the Blue Lagoon
was but we rented a couple of mountain bikes and made out way out of
town to see what the fuss was about. We were told that at around 7
kilometres away, it would take us 30 minutes to cycle there and
another thirty back. I can confirm that it doesn’t take 30 minutes
to cycle there, at least not when the chain on your bike falls off
three times.
Despite our dodgy bikes we made it to the Blue Lagoon, paid the 10,000Kip entrance fee and were straight in the water. It was actually really nice to swim, sunbathe and just act like we're on a normal holiday! After a good few hours we cycled back to the hotel and spent the night resting our sore bottoms!
We had some Laos food in town which was actually a nice change from all the Western stuff we've been having recently. Plus, Laos food is nice and cheap so we were all fed and watered for about £6! Being in Laos is like being a student but with less work and more sun!
